Boat and sail must fulfill the measuring requirements of the Pirat class.
The Race Committee reserves the right to check boats and sails for compliance with the rules at any time during the event. |

General Rules and Excerpt from the Sailing Instructions
1. The EUROSAF Pirat European Junior Championship 2010 will adhere to the following rules:
- ISAF Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS), latest version
- Notice of Race and Sailing Instructions
- Class Rules of the Pirat Class as recognized by DSV or EUROSAF
2. Valid measurement certificate or certified copies must be held and made available to the
race committee. This is an addition to Rule 78 RRS. Participating boats must conform to the
requirements of appendix G of the WR which regulates the mandatory class and numbers on the sail.
3. WR Appendix:
(a) Competitors (both helmsman and crew) must be a member of a DSV club: Foreign crews must
belong to a club of their national federation. Proof of membership will be presented at
registration in the race office.
(b) Helmsmen must be in possession of a valid license to operate sail boats as required by
their national sailing authority for the venue. (Addition to RRS rules 46 and 75).
The license must be presented at registration in the race office.
(c) Competitors must adhere to the admission rules of the ISAF - regulation 19.
Foreign competitor must prove they belong to an affiliated ISAF club on the Entry form.
(d) The organizer and SCN accept no liability for damage or loss of life or property, which
is caused by participation in the event. Only competitors which sign a liability waiver
will be allowed to participate. Competitors and the age of 18 require a signature from
their parent/s or guardian/s. Each boat must have and present indemnity insurance for
regattas. Proof of insurance must be presented at registration in the race office.
(e) Each helmsmen will be personally responsible for the proper nautical command of his/her boat.
(f) All competitors must carry a yellow or orange life vest during the regatta. The race
committee reserve the right to forbid inappropriate life vests.
(g) Item 5 of the sailing instructions for Berlin has changed: the race committee can either
run a Triangular course (Flag O) or an Up & Down course (Flag K). A gate will be presented
in place of a leeward mark during an Up & Down course (Flag K).
(h) The sailing instructions can be changed and announced on the notice board. Changes will
be announced at the latest by 7pm. They are binding for the following day.
(i) The regatta committee and the jury will be announced on notice board. They are binding
for all competitors.
(j) All competing boats must remain on the SCN site for the duration of the regatta from
6 pm on Sunday 25.07.2010 to the end of the protest deadline for the final race.
4. Advertising
EUROSAF Pirat European Junior Championship 2010 is classified as Category A according to
ISAF Regulation 20.
5. Entries
Entries must be made using the attached entry form. Foreign competitor must belong to an
ISAF registered club and prove membership upon registration.

7. Entry deadline
Entry deadline is July 4th 2010. The postal delivery date if registration is binding.
8. Fees
The entry fee per boat is €100. Payment must be rendered by July 4th 2010 to:

An accepted registration will only become valid after payment has been rendered.
Fees will only be reimbursed if registration is denied.
9. Scoring
The Low-Point-System will be applied:
5 races are required for a valid European Championship.
If fewer than six races are completed, the serial points of a boat
If 6-8 races are completed, the serial points equal the sum of the points in the races and exclude
the worst score.
If 9 races are completed, the serial points of a boat equal the sum of the points scored excluding
the worst two scores.
If sailing in groups, the first to sixth qualifying races count, and the worst score is disregarded.
The points will be added to the final two groups.
10. Prizes
Prizes for the winning crews and crews placed 2-10. Participation ribbons for all participants.
Prizes will be awarded two hours after completion of the final race.
11. Protest Committee
There will be five umpires. There will be an international jury. The protest committees decisions
cannot be challenged according to WR 70.5.
The approval of the protest committee is given herein by registration.
12. Race program
The program with all regatta material can be received by every participant on
Saturday July 24th 2010 from 10am onwards.
